How to read an MBTI Test result

What is an MBTI Test?

An mbti test describes personality preferences through four dimensions: Extraversion/Introversion, Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling, and Judging/Perceiving. It is useful for reflection, communication, and conversation, but it should not be used as diagnosis, hiring evidence, or a measure of ability.

Why can a result be borderline?

If one dimension is close to 50/50, you may show both sides in different contexts. Showing dimension percentages and nearest types is more useful than giving only a four-letter label.

When should you retake it?

Retake the test when your context changes significantly or when you think you answered from aspiration rather than real behavior. Retake comparison helps separate stable preferences from context-driven answers.

The four MBTI Test dimensions

E / I Extraversion and Introversion

How you gain energy, express yourself, and process ideas.

S / N Sensing and Intuition

Whether you trust concrete facts or patterns, possibilities, and abstract links.

T / F Thinking and Feeling

Whether decisions lean first on logic or people-and-values impact.

J / P Judging and Perceiving

Whether you prefer structure and closure or open exploration and flexibility.

The 16 personality types

The mbti test combines four dimensions into 16 possible types. No type is better or worse; each reflects a different preference pattern.

FAQ

MBTI Test FAQ

Is this the official MBTI® assessment?

No. This is an independent original personality self-test. It is not affiliated with The Myers-Briggs Company and does not provide the official MBTI® assessment.

Is this mbti test free?

Yes. Taking the test and viewing the core result is free and does not require an account.

Will my answers be public?

No. Progress is stored in your browser. Only a result summary is saved when you choose to create a share link.

How accurate is the result?

Use it for self-reflection and conversation, not diagnosis, hiring, or high-stakes decisions.

Can this be used for hiring?

No. Personality type should not be used to hire, reject, or judge someone’s ability.

Can I retake the test?

Yes. The result page stores your latest result locally so your next result can show a comparison.

Why does this test not use the official questionnaire?

This site uses original questions to avoid copying protected official materials. The goal is an independent self-test experience, not a replacement for the official MBTI® assessment.

Should I only look at the four letters?

No. The four letters are a summary. Dimension percentages, borderline signals, and nearest types are often more useful.
